We were contacted by cinematographer Tristan Bouan to help with a DCP encoding of his feature film Trainhopper for it's premier festival screening in January. Tristan visited us in Exmoor (via train, bus and hitching) and we converted his 4K master film into a 4K and 2K Digital Cinema Package (DCP) to allow it to be screened in a cinema at a cost below what he would pay for DCP encoding in London. Tristan has been working on the film for the past 6 years, shot whilst hopping trains in the US and so budgets were tight.
The film follows a family tragedy, Samuel spends four years in the world of trainhoppers, a subculture of free-spirited tramps who illegally navigate the USA on the back of trains. As he passes through his picturesque southern hometown, he is arrested and faces a dilemma: keep on living in his detached world, or face reality and run the risk of falling back into life. Watch the Trainhopper trailer on the link above or on Youtube here.
Trainhopper was shot across the US by an international team and produced with private funds. Mostly based in Durham, North Carolina, Trainhopper takes place across 7 US states and several freight trains. Starring: Alonzo Saxton II, Ellie Barone, Ray Dooley, George Lucas.
