Available for hire now we have the high quality Formatt HD ND0.9 glass 4x4inch (100mmx100mm) filter which is designed to cut the amount of light entering a lens to give you greater control over exposure and depth of field. The Formatt filters are especially designed for High Definition video and work well with DSLRs like the Canon 7D or 5D mkIII or video cameras that do not have built-in Neutral Density filters like the Sony Fs100 or BMCC. Couple this filter with a 4x4inch sized matte box - if you don't want to use a matte box then choose a screw type ND filter instead.
The ND0.9 filter produces the equivalent of 3 stops of light reduction and can be coupled with other Neutral Density filters to decrease the amount of light entering your camera.
Neutral density glass filters (also known as ND filters) produce a neutral tone and are used to reduce light, enabling more control over exposure and depth of field without affecting colour or contrast. Ideal under bright lighting conditions or outdoors to control over exposure but also to let you keep your aperture open for shallow depth of field at a moderate shutter speed like 1/50th sec for 25p video.
Combine this filter with the two stage Vocas MB-250 matte box or one of our other matte boxes for the ultimate light control solution. If 0.9 (3 stops) is too much light reduction then try a 0.6 or 0.3 or get a set of 3 filters and combine them in the two stage matte box to give you the ability to go from 0.3 (1 stop) to 0.9+0.6 (5 stops).
The Formatt HD ND0.9 glass 4x4 filter is supplied in a padded pouch
