The Animals of Farthing Wood DVD Box Set AuthoringWe have recently finished DVD authoring and full Quality Check (QC) of a new 6 disc box set of the animated series 'The Animals of Farthing Wood' - now available from Network online. This complete children's series of 39 x 25 minute episodes first aired on TV in the early 1990s and is based on the books of Colin Dann. The series tells the story of the Animals flight from Farthing Wood to the potential safety of White Dear Park - banding together and following 'the code' to protect each other - the series pulled no punches in depicting the animals' struggle for survival amid conflict, predation and the harshness of the elements in a world in which joy and tragedy exist side by side.
My 3 year old enjoyed watching some of the episodes during the QC, although i'm not sure he really noticed that each episode various animals didnt quite make it onto the next stage of the journey! Its well written and definitely worth a look as this globally successful, BAFTA-nominated show ran for three series of 39 episodes, all of which are included in this DVD box set.
We encoded the supplied digital assets and did a full QC on all the episodes - looking for signs of any digital glitches introduced in the transfer and encoding process. We built 6 dual layer (DVD9) discs for the box set with menus and produced masters for the client and digital uploads for the replicator.
