New York and London International link-up crew for live eventWe have been working on an international link-up between the New York and London offices of a major law firm for the live launch of a programme to empower and raise up women in the workplace.
The event saw our team split in two. Mark headed over to New York with Andy from StockandBokeh while Stu & Rob took care of the London side of the operation.
Mark flew over to New York on Saturday with equipment & crew hire in the Big Apple pre-booked. The local camera crew arrived on Monday morning to set-up ready for testing at lunchtime with the team back in London (tea time for them). The rest of the day was spent tinkering ready for the live event on Tuesday lunch-time and then exploring a bit of New York (and why not then you have the chance??)
Meanwhile back in London, Stu & Rob met up with local camera crew on on Monday morning and had the kit set-up and ready for the live test in the afternoon alongside New York. After a successful test, they enjoyed Tuesday morning, with a chance to explore London a little before returning to the offices in the early afternoon, ready for the event at 5pm.
At 5pm UK (midday New York) the event began, with introductory speeches from both offices, the chance to meet participants in the course on both side of the Atlantic and a closing speech from New York.
At both locations, the teams had a similar set-up in terms of equipment. In the Uk We used Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K Pro cameras for the locked off shots, with a wireless Sony FX6 for capturing the participants questions. Audio was captured using 2x Sennheiser radio Lavalier mics and 2x Sennheiser handheld radio microphone kits, all being fed through our Allen & Heath Zed14 mixer.
We also received the audio feed from New York, which was fed through the desk into a PA system provided by Rob.
Video mixing was carried out using the Atem TV Studio 4K, with main video from the room being streamed via a laptop, which an auxiliary feed was used to bring in the return video from New York and broadcast it to large LCD screens in the room.
New York had a very similar set-up, but with some changes in equipment based on what was available for hire.
Overall the event was a huge success. Despite a few small issues with the hired-in kit in New York during the test session, the team there worked out call of the kinks and the event ran smoothly
