topic icon Multiple DCPs for Film Londons Jarman Award 2022

We have been working with The Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network (FLAMIN) to bring six films to the digital cinema screen for the 2022 Film London Jarman Award.

Inspired by Derek Jarman, the Jarman Award recognises and supports artists working with moving image and celebrates the spirit of experimentation, imagination and innovation in the work of artist film-makers in the UK.

We were asked to create DCP files for the 6 shortlisted films (see below), which were to be shown at a screening scheduled for 23rd September 2022, at Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne.

The six filmmakers / films were:

  • Jamie Crewe - False Wife  (15m)
  • Onyeka Igwe - A so-called Archive  (20m)
  • Grace Ndiritu - Black Beauty (29m)
  • Morgan Quaintance - Surviving you, Always  (18m)
  • Rosa-Johan Uddoh - Black Poirot  (21m)
  • Alberta Whittle - Lagareh  (43m)

More information about the shortlist can be found here: https://filmlondon.org.uk/flamin/the-jarman-award/jarman-award-2022

The films were supplied in a range of formats, some already converted to DCP but in different frame rates, so we had to work to standardise all of the films. But eventually everything was ready and the files were delivered on Hard Drive to Film London in time for the screenings

"The Towner screening went very well! Thanks for your speedy delivery and very helpful advice along the way.”- Duncan - Programme and Digital Officer, FLAMIN, Film London

UPDATE - A massive congratulations to Grace Ndiritu, who came out on top of the group, winning the 2022 Jarman Award!
