The Rycote G5 is a carbon fibre, 2.5m, 5 section boom pole, similar to the original A5 Lightwave poles, but with no metal parts so its lighter. There is no XLR cable inside this G5 boom pole.
The G5 boom pole features an innovative triple-cam locking system which allows for minimal twisting when locking/unlocking. As on the Lightwave pole, the locking mechanism is designed to be resistant to jamming when the pole is dirty; however, if necessary, the locking collars can be completely stripped down for cleaning in the field if required.
The pole weighs 580g, collapses to 0.66m(2'2") and extends to 2.5m(8'2").
