The Blackmagic Bi-Directional SDI-HDMI 12G Micro Converter is the world's smallest bidirectional 12g 4k/60 broadcast quality converter!
This model can convert in both directions, in different standards at the same time! You can convert SDI to HDMI and HDMI to SDI simultaneously. Plus, it supports camera control protocol conversion, so you can use Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras with professional SDI live production switchers like our ATEM 4K Pro and control your Blackmagic cameras like the Blackmagic Studio 6k Pro camera or pocket 6K Pro camera.
The Micro Converter uses USB-C for power, so it can be powered directly from televisions or laptop computers or with the supplied 5V USB-C power supply. Plug it into your computer and use the Blackmagic software for additional setups like Level A or B settings for 3G signals. The unit has LED status indicator for power.
Micro Converters have been engineered with precision electronics so you get very low SDI jitter, allowing you to extend SDI cables over long distances. That’s vital for live production where equipment such as cameras can be a long distance from switchers. Blackmagic Micro Converters work with both 8 and 10-bit video formats, in RGB or YUV, and in all SD, HD and Ultra HD formats, up to 2160p60. They also support 1080p24, 1080p47.95, 1080p48, 4Kp24, 4Kp47.95 and 4Kp48 film rates. Plus, you get fully embedded audio and timecode support.
Monitoring with 3D LUTs
Get colour accurate monitoring on any type of display - the Micro Converter SDI to HDMI 12G model includes a 3D LUT for colour accurate monitoring! You can apply custom looks, colour and gamma changes in real time for on-set monitoring. LUTs can also be applied to the 12G‑SDI loop output, allowing you to use the converter as a 3D LUT processor!
Latest HDR Support
The 12G model have everything for the latest HDR workflows. Simply connect a HDR monitor, projector or TV and you are ready for HDR monitoring! Static metadata PQ and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) formats in the VPID are handled according to the ST2108-1, ST2084 and the ST425 standards. Micro Converter 12G models handle ST425 which defines 2 new bits in the VPID to indicate transfer characteristic of SDR, HLG or PQ. Plus the ST2108-1 standard defines how to transport HDR static or dynamic metadata over SDI. There is also support for ST2082-10 for 12G SDI as well as ST425 for 3G-SDI sources. Both Rec.2020 and Rec.709 colorspaces are supported.
Convert with Camera Control
The new Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 12G model even supports camera control so you can use a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera with an ATEM SDI switcher. ATEM switchers send camera control over SDI, and the converter can translate this to HDMI for the camera. Just connect SDI from the converter out to the switcher input, the switcher program out to the converter input, and then the HDMI converter input connects to the Pocket Cinema Camera. Now add a camera number in the converter utility, and you'll get control of the camera colour corrector, tally and even remote recording! It even works in reverse, and you can connect and control an SDI camera from an HDMI switcher such as ATEM Mini!
Includes HDMI Timecode Support
The Micro Converter 12G models use a new Blackmagic Design custom hardware design so they're more advanced to better support the technical features that are critical to high end broadcast workflows. These features include support for HDMI and SDI timecode conversion. You even get full support for timecode in both standard definition and high definition video formats. This means if you have any HDMI device that supports timecode, you can convert it to SDI and get that timecode into larger broadcast systems.
SDI Re‑clocking
Blackmagic Micro Converters include built in SDI re-clocking on the 12G-SDI output. The SDI re‑clocking will regenerate the SDI video, reduce SDI jitter and improve SDI eye pattern before the converter sends the signal to other equipment. This allows longer cable lengths because even degraded SDI signals can still be used.
All Blackmagic microconverter models comply with SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 424M and SMPTE 425M broadcast standards. The 12G model add SMPTE 2081-10 and SMPTE 2082-10 standards.
Blackmagic Micro Converter 12G models add all the SDI and HD formats of the 3G models, plus powerful Ultra HD and 4K formats. 12G-SDI formats include 2160p23.98, 2160p24, 2160p25, 2160p29.97, 2160p30, 2160p47.95, 2160p48, 2160p50, 2160p59.94, 2160p60, 4Kp23.98 DCI, 4Kp24 DCI, 4Kp25 DCI, 4Kp29.97 DCI, 4Kp30 DCI, 4Kp47.95 DCI, 4Kp48 DCI, 4Kp50 DCI, 4Kp59.94 DCI and 4Kp60 DCI, 4KPsF25 DCI, 4KPsF29.97 DCI and 4KPsF30 DCI.
