Published Wednesday 13 May 2015 by Mark Brindle in Video ProductionIn April we worked with Martin Cassini from Equality Streets on a 5min film comissioned by the Isle of Man Government (Department of Infrastructure). The film, shot in Bristol & intercut with footage from other towns in the UK, explores the advantages of 'shared space' on our streets, a system in which traffic lights are removed, cars filter in turn and pedestrians are given equal rights. Martin has campaigned for and worked on a number of successful schemes of this type, and the IOM Department of Infrastructure comissioned him & Maniac Films to produce this film which will be used at various meetings about the refurbishment of the promenade in Douglas. The film has now been published on the Isle of Man Government Youtube channel, but you can view it by clicking o the button below.

Published Tuesday 28 April 2015 by Mark Brindle in Crew HireWe have been back to capture more footage at the North Devon District Hospital with John from Coffee Cup Training. This is a continuation from the previous shoot at the start of the month, which couldn't be completed due to a technical issue with the tent structure that we needed to film. The hospital has now received a replacement piece of kit and we were invited back to film the training session, in which hospital staff practice procedures for an emergency quarantine event. The footage was captured on our Sony PMW-200 camera and delivered to John on a hard drive for the edit.
Filming Alice in Wonderland at RHS Rosemoor
Published Monday 20 April 2015 by Mark Brindle in Video ProductionWe have been filming with Rob, Dexter, Rosie & Sam from Entertainingly Different at RHS Rosemoor near Torrington in Devon To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Alice's Adventures In Wonderland, a number of RHS gardens are holding special events. As part of the celebrations at RHS Rosemoor, Entertaininly Different are hosting a Mad Hatter's Tea Party. The ED crew were also asked to create a series of adverts (one for each of the participating gardens) to promote the events, and to help them achieve this, they called us in. We set-up a tea party in the gardens for one scene, and moved down to the lake to film the remainder. The actors had to stay in costume all day, much to the amusement of garden visitors and a coachload of school children! We will edit the 4 films with Rob and they should be appearing online soon.

We were there to film a training exercise, in which hospital staff rehearse the procedures for an emergency quarantine sitation. Unfortunately the pop-up quaratine tunnel was damaged and that part of the exercise will have to be filmed on a later date. However we were still able to capture a lot of footage from other areas of the hospital and we even had our IT apprentice Barnaby play the part of a sick patient! The footage was captured on our Sony PMW-200 camera and delivered to John on a hard drive for the edit.
DVD Authoring for Steel Dawn
Published Wednesday 8 April 2015 by Stu Gaunt in DCP & Disc ProductionWe've been working on a DVD re-release for Three Wolves, the 1987 film Steel Dawn, starring Patrick Swayze. Steel Dawn is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where a warrior wandering through the desert comes upon a group of settlers who are being menaced by a murderous gang that is after the water they control. We were supplied with the an existing dvd of the film from which we ripped the film, 5.1 and stereo audio tracks, special features and motion menus and artwork assets. Using the ripped assets, we were able to rebuild the dvd with Three Wolves branding. We then produced a master copy for replication. The film should be available in mid-August to buy on DVD.

Published Friday 3 April 2015 by Mark Brindle in Video ProductionWe have been in Bristol with Martin Cassini from Equality Streets, filming an interview with transports, traffic & urban design consultant Ben Hamilton-Baillie. The interview will form the basis for a 5 minute film discussing the benefits of shared space, a concept which removes traffic signals and gives cars & pedetrians equal rights in the road. The scheme also promotes a system in which cars filter in turn - reducing traffic. We travelled up to Bristol with a simple interview set-up including the Blackmagic 4K camera, lights and and an audio kit including radio mics and a boom. The film will be finished by the end of the week to be shown during an upcoming meeting with councillors and town planners in a UK city.
